Total active COVID cases in Northern Sask. nearing 1,000, 199 new cases reported in province

The province is reporting another 199 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, including 93 new cases in northern zones of Saskatchewan.

This brings the total to 54,076 reported cases; 2,068 cases considered active; 954 of these in the northern zones of the province, and 51,407 cases considered recovered.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (eight), Far North Central (three), Far North East (14), North West (32), North Central (22), and North East (14).

Three new deaths reported today brings the provincial total to 601 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

About two-fifths (40.2 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

About one in eight (13.6 per cent) new cases was fully vaccinated.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 29, there are 264 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 22; Far North West, 63; Far North East, 150; North Central, 26; and North East, one.

There are 115 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; four, Far North West, 24; and Far North East, 71; North Central, 15; and North East, one.

There have been 4,412 cases (94 per cent) that have recovered, and 10 people are being hospitalized.
