Athabasca Health Authority Update

In a recent email update from the Athabasca Health Authority, executive director of Primary Health Care, Taiwo Olubanwo, made note of a few COVID related data coming out of the authority.

No reported new COVID-19 cases were reported over the previous weekend with three new cases reported in Black Lake on Aug. 30.

Ten cases are currently active; four cases in Black Lake, and three in both Fond Du Lac and Stony Rapids.

Nine recoveries were reported in Black Lake within the past two days.

The trend of COVID-19 cases seems promising and the trend will continue to be promising should all of our communities community continue to follow all the measures and take the vaccines.

Fond Du Lac although with three active cases, is currently under watch – more recommendations to be shared in the coming days.

More than 50 per cent of people living in Fond Du Lac have received their first doses whilst more than one in three has been fully vaccinated in FDL. Olubanwo noted that this is indeed promising.

More people got vaccinated within the past two weeks in two of our communities where low uptake was reported in the recent time.

Nearly all the AHA staff and contractors have been vaccinated. Although some were vaccinated before, more staff and contractors were vaccinated following the recent implementation of the AHA team COVID-19 vaccine mandate – we say a big thank you to all.
