COVID numbers continue to rise with another 267 new cases of COVID-19, one reported death

Another 267 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported today in the province, including another 145 in northern zones of the province.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan today are located in the Far North West (15), Far North Central (two), Far North East (31), North West (50), North Central (40), and North East (seven).

This brings the provincial total to 54,953 reported cases; 2,466 cases considered active and 51,879 cases considered recovered.

Of the cases that are currently active, 1,239 of the cases have been reported in Northern Saskatchewan.

About two-fifths (38.6 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category and about one in seven (13.5 per cent) new cases are people who have been fully vaccinated.

There is one new death reported today bringing the provincial total to 608 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died and a provincial case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

Another 2,933 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were reported as well, bringing the provincial total to 1,481,096 vaccines administered in the province, and 697,571 Saskatchewan residents who are fully vaccinated.

NITHA Data

As of Sept. 1, there are 317 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 25; Far North West, 70; Far North East, 189; North Central, 28; and North East, five.

There are 140 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; seven, Far North West, 31; and Far North East, 78; North Central, 20; and North East, four.

There are 4,503 cases (93 per cent) recovered, and eight people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

The Athabasca Health Authority is reporting additional case of COVID-19 as of Sept. 1. This brings the total active cases in the region to 14; nine in Black Lake, four in Fond Du Lac, and one in Stony Rapids.

Total number of cases since the pandemic began in 2020 are now at 464.
