COVID numbers continue to climb as province reports rare day of over 400 new cases

The province has reported another 405 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today. This is only the fifth time since the pandemic began that the province has reported daily case numbers over 400.

This includes 227 new cases in northern zones of the province; Far North West (22), Far North Central (three), Far North East (71), North West (39), North Central (78), North East (14).

This brings the total to 57,243 reported cases; 3,331 cases considered active and 53,297 cases considered recovered.

Over one-third (34.6 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 year age category.

Over one in eight (13.3 per cent) new cases was fully vaccinated.

Two new deaths reported today bringing the total to 615 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

There are currently 702,957 fully vaccinated residents across the province.

NITHA Saskatchewan

There are 34 new cases to report on Sept. 7 in NITHA communities; 24 (70 per cent) unvaccinated, four (12 per cent) are partially vaccinated and six (18 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 333 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 17; Far North West, 50; Far North East, 198; North Central, 43; and North East, 25.

There are 150 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; seven, Far North West, 21; and Far North East, 86; North Central, 25; and North East, 11.

There has been 4,719 cases (93 per cent) that have recovered, and nine people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

Two new cases were reported today in the Athabasca Health Authority. Three new recoveries were also reported meaning the current number of active cases as of Sept. 7 is 20. This includes five in Black Lake, 13 in Fond Du Lac, and two in Stony Rapids.
