NITHA data

As of Sept. 22, there are 12 new cases to report in NITHA communities.

These cases are found in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 10; Far North West, 63; Far North East, 148; North Central, 49; and North East, 40. There are 5,440 cases (94 per cent) recovered and 13 people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

The Athabasca Health Authority is reporting a new COVID-19 milestone in Fond Du Lac.

As of Thursday, they’ve administered 1,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and the uptake is steadily increasing in the community. In Fond Du Lac, two in five people have been fully vaccinated and three in five people have received their first dose.

However, a spike in the COVID cases was reported this week due to multiple parties and refusal to disclose close contacts by some people in the community.

All the active cases in the community initially set to recover have increased to 15 within a couple of days. Four cases will potentially recover Thursday.

“Although we are confident that FDL will beat the probable outbreak as usual, we encourage the continued vigilance and adherence to all the COVID-19 preventative measures that we frequently shared,” A release from Athabasca Health Authority stated.
