Province reports 126 new cases of COVID-19

The Government of Saskatchewan has reported 126 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and 10 new deaths Tuesday.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are found in the Far North West (five), Far North East (eight), North West (six), North Central (eight), North East (one), and eight new cases have pending residence information.

There are 2,538 cases considered active and 73,242 cases have recovered. Less than one-third (31 per cent) of new cases are 11 years old or under. Over one-fourth, (26.4 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

In total, 286 people are hospitalized, including 217 inpatient hospitalizations and 69 in intensive care. Of the 286 patients, 207 (72.4 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

Three additional cases were transferred to Ontario, for a total of 12 Saskatchewan cases that have been transferred out-of-province. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in Saskatchewan’s hospital numbers.

Overall, 827 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

From Oct. 20 – 26, 22,070 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,649,640.

As of Oct. 26, 85 per cent of those 12 and over have received their first dose and 77 per cent of those are fully vaccinated. There were 1,666 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan from Oct. 20 – 26, bringing the provincial total to 76,607 cases. There were 2,529 recoveries recorded during the same period.

There were 35 new deaths reported Oct. 20 – 26.

NITHA data

There are 17 new cases to report today in NITHA communities.

In total, 12 (70 per cent) were unvaccinated, three (18 per cent) are partially vaccinated and two (12 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 164 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are found in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 41; Far North East, 91; North Central, 11; and North East, 21.

There are 6,536 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are in hospital.
