Provincial case total currently 2,440, including 742 in Northern Sask; five deaths

The province has announced an additional 223 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 164 cases among unvaccinated people and 62 cases among children between the ages of 0-11.

Of the new cases, 63 are located in northern Saskatchewan; the Far North West (15), Far North East (nine), North West (18), North Central (18), and North East (three).

Five new deaths reported today bringing the provincial total to 832 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

There are currently 2,440 cases considered active across the province, 742 of them located in Northern Saskatchewan. Since the pandemic began, there has been 73,558 cases that are considered recovered.

Over one quarter (27.8 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 11 or under.

Almost one-third (31.1 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Oct. 27, a total of 271 individuals are hospitalized, including 214 inpatient hospitalizations and 57 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 271 patients, 194 (71.6 per cent) were not fully vaccinated. Four additional cases were transferred to Ontario, for a total of 16 Saskatchewan cases who have been transferred out-of-province to date. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in dashboard.

NITHA numbers

There are 33 new cases to report today in NITHA communities.

Twenty-six (79 per cent) were unvaccinated, two (nine per cent) are partially vaccinated and five (15 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 178 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 44; Far North East, 98; North Central, 21; and North East, 15. There have been 6,555 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are being hospitalized.
