Saskatchewan wraps up November with lowest number of new cases since beginning of August

The provincial government is reporting 42 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with 185 recoveries.

Four new cases were reported in the Northern Saskatchewan zones; the Far North West (one), North West (two), and North Central (one).

This is the lowest number of new cases in one day since Aug. 3.

No new deaths were reported Tuesday and the total remains at 926 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died.

Currently, there are 715 cases considered active and 79,351 total cases have recovered.

There have been 80,992 confirmed cases since the pandemic began; 19,778 cases are from the North area (8,795 North West, 8,149 North Central, 2,834 North East and 9,343 cases are from the Far North area (4,393 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,409 Far North East).

Less than two-fifths (38.1 per cent) of new cases are between the ages of 20 to 39.

Almost two-fifths (37.5 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

Right now 133 people are in hospital including 37 in the ICU. Of the 133 patients, 92 (69.2 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

There are currently four residents receiving care in Ontario hospitals.

Vaccine Summary for Nov. 30, 2021:

From Nov. 24–30, 26,048 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 1,739,204. An additional 93,243 third and fourth doses have been given in the province.

As of Tuesday, 87 per cent of residents 12 years and older and 80 per cent of residents five years older have received their first dose. About 82 per cent of residents 12 years and older and older and 74 per cent of residents five years and older are fully vaccinated.

There were 511 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan from Nov. 24–30, bringing the provincial total to 80,992 cases. There were 798 recoveries recorded during the same period.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan is currently 73 (6.1 per 100,000).

A total of 12 deaths were reported from Nov. 24–30.

In that same timeframe, there were 11,936 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported no new cases on Monday in NITHA communities.

There are 20 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, three; Far North East, seven; North Central, 10; and North East, 0.

There have been 6,854 cases (99 per cent) that have recovered, and one person is being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) continues to report no new or active COVID-19 cases for more than 6 weeks in a row.

They also reported an increase in the COVID-19 vaccine rates across the AHA region. Records show that 72 per cent of the eligible AHA population have been fully vaccinated.

“As you may be aware, a new variant of COVID-19 called Omicron has recently been reported in some countries. We encourage everyone to continue to be vigilant, cautious and get vaccinated,” stated Taiwo Olubanwo, AHA executive director of Primary Health Care.
