One new death and 81 new cases of COVID-19 identified today

Another 81 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today by the provincial government. Of the new cases, 55 were identified in individuals who are unvaccinated.

Nineteen new cases have also been located in the Northern zones of the province; Far North West (one), Far North East (three), North West (six), and North Central (nine).

With one new death reported today, 927 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died since the beginning of the pandemic.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 81,074 cases have been confirmed; 19,794 cases are from the North area (8,801 North West, 8,159 North Central, 2,834 North East) and 9,347 cases are from the Far North area (4,394 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,412 Far North East).

There are currently 735 cases are considered active in the province and 79,412 cases are considered recovered.

More than one-quarter (27.2 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of five to 11.

Almost one-third (31.2 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged five years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Dec. 1, a total of 133 individuals are hospitalized, including 98 inpatient hospitalizations and 35 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 133 patients, 90 (67.7 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Sask. ICU counts, there are four residents receiving out of province care in hospital. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the dashboard. There has been one repatriation since yesterday’s report.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported no new cases on Nov. 30 in NITHA communities.

There are six active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, one; Far North East, five; North Central, 0; and North East, 0.

There have been 6,854 cases (99 per cent) that have recovered, and one person is being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) continues to report no new or active COVID-19 cases for more than six weeks in a row.

They also reported an increase in the COVID-19 vaccine rates across the AHA region. AHA reported on Nov. 30 that 72 per cent of the eligible AHA population have been fully vaccinated.

“As you may be aware, a new variant of COVID-19 called Omicron has recently been reported in some countries. We encourage everyone to continue to be vigilant, cautious and get vaccinated,” stated Taiwo Olubanwo, AHA executive director of Primary Health Care.
