Over two-fifths (43.3 per cent) of new cases are between the ages of 20 and 39

More than one-fourth (28.6 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 5 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Dec. 31, a total of 79 individuals are hospitalized across the province with 12 being treated in the ICU. Of the 79 patients, 48 (60.8 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

There are currently no patients who have been hospitalized due to Omicron but one patient in hospital admitted for non-COVID-related health care has tested positive for Omicron.

The province has also announced public reporting distinguishing COVID-19 hospitalizations and hospitalizations where people got COVID-19 after being admitted. That reporting mechanism is expected to be ready the week of Jan. 3.

No new deaths were reported on Friday leaving the provincial total at 955.

Due to the New Years’ weekend, there will be no COVID-9 update now Tuesday, Jan. 4.
