Province reports 1,392 new cases of COVID-19, two deaths

The Government of Saskatchewan has reported 1,392 new cases of COVID-19.

In the northern part of the province, new cases were located in the Far North West (11), Far North Central (six), Far North East (31), North West (54), North Central (95), North East (27), while 155 new cases have pending residence information.

Of the new cases, 270 were unvaccinated, 51 had received their first dose, 727 were fully vaccinated, while the other 344 were fully vaccinated and had received their booster shot more than 14 days ago.

There are 12,685 cases considered active and 101,733 cases are considered recovered.

As of today, 342 people are in hospital, including 308 inpatients and 34 in ICU. Of those in the hospital, 114 (33.3 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

Of those in inpatient care, 129 are a COVID-19-related illness, 163 are incidental COVID-19 infections, and 16 have not yet been determined.

Of those in ICU, 26 are for COVID-19-related illnesses, and six are for incidental COVID-19 infections. Two residents are in PICU/NICU: one is for COVID-19-related illnesses, and one is for incidental COVID-19 infection.

There are two new deaths reported today, making a total of 987 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

NITHA Data

As of Jan. 27, there are 69 new cases to report today in NITHA communities.

There are 249 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 22; Far North West, 23; Far North East, 149; North Central, 36; and North East, 19.

There are 7,374 cases (96 per cent) recovered, and there are zero hospitalizations.
