Garth Brooks returning to Edmonton in June

Music’s biggest show on earth is coming back to Canada this summer and it’s within driving distance of northwest Saskatchewan.

The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour returns to Alberta on June 25, with a 7:00 p.m. show at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. This is the country superstar’s first appearance at Commonwealth, which seats just over 56,000 and will allow patrons to fill the field.

His last appearance in Edmonton five years ago saw more than 160,000 people attend the concert. This is the only listed Canadian Stadium Tour date and the last major stadium concert appearance in Canada.

CJNB host Grant Schutte mentioned to battlefordsNOW that there’s going to be a huge demand for the number one selling solo artist in U.S. history, who frequently sells out 70-80,000 seat stadiums. To date, Brooks has sold 157 million records.

“Even when he wasn’t touring in the 90s he sold more music than the Beatles,” Schutte said. “It doesn’t get any bigger than Garth Brooks.”

Tickets go on sale on May 6 at 10:00 a.m. sharp, priced at $104.95 per ticket with an eight ticket limit. There are no advance box office sales and seating is in-the-round.

Schutte noted that Brooks has added shows in the past, evidenced by his last stop in Saskatchewan where one show turned into five, all selling out.

“He just moves in his own sphere of influence and if he gets it in his mind he wants to do a concert at a certain event, if it’s open he’ll take it,” he said. “If it’s his only stadium visit to Canada, there’s going to be people flying in from Prince Edward Island if they can get tickets.”

Three options are available for purchasing tickets, including going to ticketmaster.ca/garthbrooks, calling 1-877-654-2784 and using the Ticketmaster app.

All COVID-19 rules currently in place would apply at the venue, while the purchaser assumes the risk.
