NEW: All highways around Battlefords closed

UPDATE: As of 8:00 a.m., highway 16 east and highway 4 north out of Battlefords are now open, according to the highway hotline.

As of 6:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, all highways around the Battlefords are closed according to the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline.

The highway hotline says the closure is because of reduced visibility, heavy snow and icy or slippery sections.

The Battlefords has received a significant amount of snowfall over the last 24 hours.
