A Meadow Lake hockey player is still lost for words after he was drafted in the second round of the WHL Prospects Draft.

Kash Alger-East, a member of the North West 15U AA Stars was taken 25th overall by the Victoria Royals in Thursday’s draft.

When interviewed by meadowlakeNOW, he said it was a tremendous moment for him.

“Feels pretty special and I’m excited,” he said, adding he found out while visiting his dad at work at the pulp mill.

For those who are Royals fans, Alger-East said they’re getting a strong two-way player who works both ends of the ice very well.

For Alger-East, he said he’s also grateful to represent his home community of Meadow Lake.

“There’s only been a handful of people drafted from Meadow Lake,” he said “It feels really special.”

One of his teammates from the Stars, Millar Kramer, was also taken in the draft, selected in the fifth round by the Red Deer Rebels.
