Northern Saskatchewan is cranking up the A/C.
Heat warnings from Environment Canada blanketed the entire northern half of Saskatchewan on Thursday afternoon, including the areas around Cree Lake, Fond-du-Lac, Île à la Crosse, La Loche, La Ronge, Lloydminster, Pelican Narrows, Southend, Uranium City and Wollaston Lake.
“Temperatures reaching 29 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 14 degrees Celsius will continue,” the weather service said in a statement. “Temperatures will moderate this weekend.”
Environment Canada noted that extreme heat can cause health risks, particularly for young children, pregnant women, seniors, those with chronic illnesses and those working or exercising outside.
