A woman from North Battleford is the lucky winner of this year’s $100,000 draw in the Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation’s 29th annual cash lottery.

Audrey Nesbitt picked up the grand prize winnings.

“Her ticket was selected at random from thousands of entries,” BUH Foundation executive director Leanne Ducommun said. “We extend our warmest congratulations to Audrey and wish her all the best.”

Nesbitt was shocked to find she was the big winner.

“She wasn’t quite sure how to respond to it,” Ducommun said. “She was so excited and very grateful for the opportunity to win.”

She added Nesbitt was also excited to share the good news with her family.

The winner of the cash lottery 50/50 enhancement draw was Stuart Hayward, also from North Battleford, who will take home over $65,000.

“We are delighted to congratulate Stuart Hayward on his extraordinary win,” Ducommun said, adding the winnings are “record-breaking.”

“Last year we broke a record with the 50-50 just over $56,000, and this year we really surpassed it,” Ducommun said.

A total of 20 other winners each won $1,000 in the draw: Gerald Flammond, Doreen Hagen, Karen Zubiak, Braden Bouchard, Corrine Cockburn, Malcolm Smith, Anne Lazarowich, Tyler Cook, Ilene Wintergreen, The Coffee Girls, Len Halter, Doug Risling, Ramona Braun, Les Meyers, Robert (Bob) Adams, Jessica Durocher, Lynne Waskewitch, Bernadette Gamble, Joan Harrison, and Barbara Blaquiere.

“We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported BUH Foundation through their ticket purchases,” Ducommun said. “Your generosity enables us to continue our important work and make a positive impact in our community. We are truly grateful for your support and look forward to your continued involvement.”
