Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week

May 9, 2024 | 9:41 AM

Hop in and join us in recognizing Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness week from May 6 to May 10! All week, we will highlight some aquatic invasive species that Saskatchewan waters are most at risk of, plus the many ways you can help protect our waterbodies.

Pull your boat plug – It’s the law! Remove all drain plugs when transporting watercraft to drain water and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Failure to do so can result a fine. Microscopic invasive species can survive in even a few drops of water and easily spread between waterbodies on watercraft and gear when you don’t properly Clean, Drain and Dry them.

Ensuring your watercraft and gear are clean and free of debris and that all water has been drained and dried is the best way to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species such as zebra and quagga mussels.
