Construction on the roughly $52-Million Co-op Centre is now over halfway to being finished.

The project for a new arena and field house which began construction last year has an end date of next March.

According to a news release, the construction is by Quorex, and designed by Workun Garrick Partnership.

“The Co-op Centre construction progress represents another exciting milestone in the project,” Meadow Lake Mayor Merlin Seymour said in the release.

“We appreciate the hard work and support of our partners in making this possible and look forward to the grand opening next year. The positive impacts and spin-off benefits provided to the Meadow Lake and surrounding area will be felt across many sectors.”

Every branch of government has invested in the project including the RM of Meadow Lake, which will contribute nearly $2.5 million.

The release said while the building will have a March end date, the interior work will continue afterwards.

“This is another exciting milestone for the new Meadow Lake Multiplex project,” Trade and Export Development Minister and MLA for Meadow Lake Jeremy Harrison said in the release, speaking for Government Relations Minister Don McMorris.

Meanwhile, the project is also being supported through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) with a total grant of $37.3 million.
