Warrant issued after gunfire, officer assault

Christian Mitsuing is sought by the police in connection with a report of gunfire and assault of an officer on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.

The gunfire case took place on October 13 at around 7 p.m and police say there were no injuries.

However, during the investigation of the case, when an officer was outside their police vehicle gathering statements, a suspect drove an ATV with a woman in the passenger seat and approached at high speed.

The officer had to sidestep quickly to avoid being hit as the ATV sped away. No officers were injured.

The next day, while patrolling the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, officers spotted the ATV from the day before. They attempted to stop it, but the vehicle managed to escape once again.

After continued investigation, 31-year-old Christian Mitsuing from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is now facing five charges including, two counts of operation while prohibited, dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault with a weapon on a police officer, and flight from a peace officer.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Mitsuing, and the Loon Lake RCMP is actively searching for him. Investigators are asking the public to report any sightings or information regarding his location.

He is approximately 5-10 inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds. He has dark hair and brown eyes, and several small tattoos on his face.
