Meadow Lake’s Allan among 42 Sask-born players taken in WHL bantam draft
Meadow Lake native Keenan Allan was among 42 Saskatchewan-born players selected in Thursday’s Western Hockey League bantam draft.
Listed at 5’8″, 154 lbs., the 15-year-old was selected with the 172nd overall pick in the eighth round by the Moose Jaw Warriors. He put up 29 points in 30 games this season, playing in Winnipeg for the Rink Hockey Academy Bantam Prep program that competes in the Canadian Sport School Bantam Hockey League.
Unity’s Garin Scherr and Rosetown’s Eric Robbie were also selected in the draft, taken by the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders respectively.
The annual draft saw the 22 WHL teams select a total of 223 players, made up of 124 forwards, 76 defencemen and 23 goaltenders. Those selected were born in 2003.
