M.L. Sox happy with second place in league

Jun 25, 2018 | 12:00 PM

At this late point in the season, the Meadow Lake Sr. White Sox are pleased with how things have unfolded for the team in 2018.

Their most recent matchup against the Lloydminster Twins was a 7-4 loss, but pitcher Craig Weran said the Sox felt their performance against the first-place team was a strong one overall.

“We had a really good start and a really good finish,” he said. “We were up two runs right away, then they caught up with what seemed like a run each inning. We were 7-2 heading into the seventh inning; we scored a couple late and stranded a few of their runners, but it was too little too late.”

The Twins are undefeated so far this season in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League and Weran said they’ve always been a strong team. For Weran, however, sitting in second behind the league-leaders is somewhere the Sox are happy to be.
