June 28, 1949 – July 31, 2016
Arlin Glen Lovell was born in Lestock, SK, the 1st of 12 siblings. Born to Ray and Ruby Lovell (nee Nelson). They lived on a family farm where he learned many tasks and the meaning of hard work. He started school in Grade 1 in a small 12-desk country School in Touchwood. He then moved to Wishart and finished Grade 8. He worked for local farmers while continuing school. He was a member of the Army Cadets which he truly enjoyed. This gave him great interest in flying. After working as a farmhand he planned to move to Saskatoon and complete high school. He moved there and lived with his aunt and uncle (Nellie and Mike Samoleski) and started working. There he met a young woman who later became his wife (Christine).
Glen married Christine (Peters) in March of 1968. God blessed them with 2 wonderful children and 4 grandchildren who all loved him dearly. Glen was a wonderful, generous man who loved helping those in need. He had many skills including volunteer firefighting & EMT work, woodworking and car mechanics to name a few. Glen accepted Jesus as his personal savior in 1972 and grew in his faith to the end of his life. Even when he received the diagnoses of a terminal brain tumor he calmly said, “I guess God can heal me if he wants to and if not I am ready to go”. He became a Millwright mechanic in 1980. His job took him many places including Saskatoon, Uranium City, Meadow Lake, Key Lake, Cluff Lake and Fort McMurray. He furthered his education to become a maintenance planner/scheduler at Millar Western and Suncor. Glen was known for his sense of humour and his love of life. He loved travelling. He also loved playing practical jokes. If you spent any time with Glen you would hear him whistling a happy tune. Children and animals were naturally drawn to him. He kept calm and peaceful and enjoyed his remaining days through it all. His positive attitude and outlook on life drew many people to him.
Early Sunday morning on July 31, 2016 Glen passed away at St Pauls’ Hospital and went to his eternal home in heaven after a struggle with cancer. He was best characterized by his love for life, family and trust in God. His legacy is continued through his wife of 48 years, Christine; and his daughter Rowena and son Perry (Adelfa), grandkids Justin, Clayton, Carissa, and Tessa. He is survived by brothers Wayne, Randy, and sisters Linda, Shirley (Dale), Dawn and Debbie (Steve). He was pre-deceased by parents Raymond and Ruby and brothers James, Mark and Kevin and sisters Maureen and Brenda.
