New COVID-19 cases back into triple digits, 245 recoveries

The provincial daily case total is back into the triple digits as 180 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported, following a dip to only 80 new cases reported yesterday. Two individuals in the Saskatoon zone have died from the virus, one from the 70-79 age group and one from the 80+ age group.

According to the government press release, doses administered across Saskatchewan are now over 102 per cent with 638 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered Feb. 9 bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 45,371. With this, 102 per cent of the doses received have been administered to date. This overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.

The 638 doses were administered in the following zones: Far North West (256), Far North Central (23), Far North East (208), North East (67), North Central (46), and Saskatoon (38). Data corrections have found an additional 212 doses in the Central West zone administered on Feb. 6 and 8.

Locations that received vaccines from the 5,850 Pfizer doses received last week are nearing completion. The next Pfizer shipment of 1,950 doses is expected to arrive on Feb. 11 in Prince Albert.

Daily COVID-19 Statistics

With the 180 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Feb. 10, the provincial total to date is 25,843 cases.

The new cases located in the Northern parts of the province include Far North West (22), Far North Central (one), Far North East (three), North West (17), North Central (19), North East (two). Four cases have pending residence information.

Six pending residence cases have been assigned to the following zones: Far North East (three), Far North West (one), North West (one) and North East (one).

A total of 23,527 individuals have recovered and 1,968 cases are considered active.

One hundred and ninety-six (196) people are in hospital. One hundred and sixty-eight (168) people are receiving inpatient care: Far North West (five), Far North East (one), North West (19), North Central (24), North East (one), Saskatoon (59), Central East (10), Regina (45), South Central (one), and South East (three). Twenty-eight (28) people are in intensive care: North West (two), North Central (two), Saskatoon (10), Central East (three), Regina (10) and South West (one).

There were 2,353 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Feb. 9.

To date, 533,179 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. As of Feb. 8, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 450,357 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 589,461 tests performed per million population.

NITHA Data

As of yesterday, there are 282 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central, Athabasca (31), Far North West (54), Far North East (106), North Central (14), and North East (77). There are 2430 cases recovered, and six people are currently in hospital.

• Stay safe this Family Day week by keeping your plans within your immediate household.
• If you are headed outdoors, you may gather in groups of ten with two metres of physical distancing between household groups. Food should not be shared between non-household members.
• Stay close to home. Non-essential travel is not recommended at this time. Travel outside our borders means you will be subject to the public health requirements for that jurisdiction, including mandatory quarantine upon return from any international destination.

Enforcing Public Health Measures

Enforcement of public health orders is permitted under The Public Health Act, 1994. Public health inspectors will be supported in their efforts to ticket violators quickly to ensure that businesses and events are brought into compliance as quickly as possible, in addition to the enforcement efforts that have been undertaken by police agencies throughout the province.
