Fifth day in a row for double digit daily COVID-19 cases

With 90 new cases of COVID-19 and another 177 recoveries reported in the province on June 8, the number of active cases in Saskatchewan has dropped to 1,053. This is the fifth day in a row that new cases have been below 100. This brings the provincial total to 47,517 cases, which includes 45,913 total recoveries.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, four; Far North East, four; North West, 15; North Central, 15; North East, seven; and two cases are pending residence information. Eight cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North West, seven; and Regina, one; zones.

Two new deaths were reported today, both in the 80+ age group. One death was reported in the North Central Zone. The other death was reported in the North West zone.

NITHA data

As of June 7, there are 46 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 14; Far North East, 27; North Central, two; and North East, three.

There are 19 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North West, six; and Far North East, 13. There are 3,582 cases (98 per cent) recovered, and four people are hospitalized.

Vaccines reported

An additional 6,724 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 816,124.

The 6,724 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 18; Far North Central, six; Far North East, 51; North West, 754; North Central, 538; North East, 72; Saskatoon, 1,837; Central West, 76; Central East, 380; Regina, 2,459; South West, 22; South Central, 121; and South East, 264. There were 126 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-eight per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Seventy-two per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Sixty-eight per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose, while sixty-five per cent of those 12+ have also received their first dose.
