and all of her sisters and brothers, plus numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Gisella was born in Quinton, Saskatchewan and moved to Goodsoil at the age of 8 years old. She met her husband John in 1942 and married on July 13, 1943. They were married for 56 years. John passed away on December 16, 1999. Gisella kept herself very busy. When they retired in 1992, John and Gisella purchased a home in Palm Desert, CA and spent winters there. She moved from Goodsoil to Regina in 2006 and then moved with her daughter and son-in-law Don to Winnipeg in 2020 so they could be closer to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gisella and John were highly involved in the local community and took great pride in the town. They owned and founded many businesses in the area, including, Goodsoil Motors, Goodsoil Hotel, Greschner Construction, Greschner Motors in Cold Lake, AB, as well as land, cattle and numerous other franchises in the area.
Gisella’s greatest source of fun was her love of hockey. Ron was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1974 and she became an avid Rangers fan. She would travel to every game she could or watch on television or listen to him on the radio. After Ron’s retirement in 1990, she kept following the Rangers till the day she passed. She and John had a lot of fun meeting the players and coaches on the team, over the years – always exciting for them.
Their two children, Linda and Ron, made them proud and they beamed from ear-to-ear when they talked about their grandsons, Jeff and Greg. Ron’s children were born after John was deceased in 1999. Ashton, Jagger, Gia Rose and Georgia were in her thoughts always and they were her greatest source of joy later in life. She travelled to New York and Florida to visit them often. All of Gisella’s family and friends will miss her laughter, quick wit and warm smile.
