Province reports 528 new cases of COVID-19, 4,734 considered active

The Government of Saskatchewan is reporting 528 new cases of COVID-19 and five new deaths in the province.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (37), Far North East (18), North West (96), North Central (57), North East (16), and thirty one (31) new cases have pending residence information.

One case in the Far North East zone (from September 9, 2021) was deemed a duplicate case and removed.

In Saskatchewan, 4,734 cases are considered active and 59,005 cases are considered recovered.

Less than one-third (31.6 per cent) of new cases are aged 20 to 39 and less than one in five (18.4 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Friday, a total of 276 people are hospitalized; including 215 inpatient hospitalizations and 61 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 276 patients, 216 (78.3 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In total, 663 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.0.

NITHA data

As of Sept. 24, there are 47 new cases to report in NITHA communities.

About 30 (64 per cent) were unvaccinated, six (13 per cent) are partially vaccinated and 11 (23 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 344 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 15; Far North West, 74; Far North East, 160; North Central, 54; and North East, 41.

There are 5,450 cases (93 per cent) recovered, and 12 people are hospitalized.
