Province reports 141 new cases of COVID-19, two deaths

The Government of Saskatchewan has announced 141 new cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (two), Far North East (two), North West (13), North Central (five), North East (one), and six new cases have pending residence information.

There are 1,796 cases considered active and 75,744 cases are considered recovered. Nearly one-quarter (24.8 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 40 to 59. Over two-fifths (43.1 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

In total, 197 individuals are hospitalized, including 148 inpatient hospitalizations and 49 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 197 patients, 134 (68 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Sask. ICUs, there are 22 residents in out-of-province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the provincial dashboard. Since yesterday’s report, there has been one repatriation and one out-of-province death.

As of November 4, 2021 one death presumably not related to COVID-19 was removed from total death counts.

There are two new deaths reported today and in total 863 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

NITHA data

There are five new cases to report today in NITHA communities.

Of the new cases, 80 per cent were unvaccinated.

There are 129 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 39; Far North East, 41; North Central, 38; and North East, 11.

There have been 6,695 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

For the third straight week the Athabasca Health Authority is reporting no active cases of COVID-19 in their communities.

“The trend of COVID-19 vaccine uptake continues to be encouraging in the AHA regions. Nearly half of the population in the AHA region have been fully vaccinated. Although we do not have any active cases and the rate of COVID-19 vaccine uptake seems encouraging, we encourage everyone to get vaccinated and stay safe,” said Taiwo Olubanwo, executive director of Primary Health Care for AHA.
