Over 5,000 new COVID-19 cases reported in province’s first weekly report
As part of the province’s transition to Living with COVID-19, Saskatchewan released its first weekly integrated epidemiological (EPI) report. It’s a deeper analysis of multiple data sources and provides a more comprehensive profile of trends, laboratory-confirmed cases, deaths, tests and vaccine information.
Between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5, the public health database showed 63 COVID-19 cases hospitalized, 10 of which were admitted to an intensive care unit. The North West, North Central and Saskatoon zones experienced the highest rates of hospitalized cases: 9.7, 7.9 and 7.7 per 100,000 population, respectively.
There were also 22 COVID-19 related deaths bringing the provincial total to 1,014 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of the 31,344 cases reported in January, 56 (0.2 per cent) cases had fatal outcomes. Of the cases who died, 42.9% (24) were unvaccinated.
