Opportunities to help Fort McMurray flood the community
A number of grassroots movements have sprung forth to help the 80,000 Fort McMurray evacuees, the latest being local donation collectors planning to convoy to evacuation sites.
From the children coming together to collect toys at Notre Dame Catholic school, to filling up semi-truck cabs, there is no shortage of choice when it comes to picking a cause to support and the number continues to grow.
Anita Fewing from the Hafford area made plans to fill up a 600 cubic foot trailer after she was inspired by a friend’s collection rally. She plans to drive the trailer to the North Battleford Wal-Mart parking lot tomorrow, May 12 where she will collect donations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
From there she plans to head South to make her final collection stop in Saskatoon’s Preston Crossing on Friday.
