U of S drops mask mandate for summer

Beginning July 4, people no longer need to cover their faces when visiting the University of Saskatchewan’s campus.

The university is hitting pause on the masking protocol for summer.

“Masks will not be mandatory indoors at that time, but they will still be highly recommended,” said a note posted on the university’s website.

The university’s Pandemic Response and Recovery Team will monitor the COVID-19 situation over the next few months and determine if the policy needs to be brought back for the fall semester, or sooner.

The campus said it will rely on key indicators such as COVID-19 case numbers, variant emergence, wastewater viral load and public health data.

This temporary policy will be in effect at all U of S campuses in the province.
