Flu cases high across province, SHA urging public to get vaccinated
The number of flu cases across the province remains high, prompting the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) to remind people to get vaccinated.
As of Nov. 19, the latest report released by the province, around 33 per cent of all tests for the virus are coming back positive. In the northeast, which includes Melfort, Nipawin, and Tisdale, the positivity rate is just over 88 per cent.
Dr. Mohammad Khan, the medical officer of health for the northeast, told northeastNOW the lack of COVID restrictions may be the main reason for the high numbers.
“Usually, there are viruses circulating every year, and people are exposed to them, and they have some form of immunity, but with this two-year lull period they probably don’t have the immunity.”
