No additional snow for most communities in central and north Sask. for Halloween

Trick-or-treaters in central Saskatchewan won’t have to worry about snow ruining their night out.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, communities like Prince Albert, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, and Melfort aren’t expected to see any snow or flurries throughout the week.

“We don’t have any strong weather systems moving through the province,” said Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

La Ronge is expected to see some flurries on Tuesday, however, the weather should clear up by the time households start handing out candy.

Despite this, winter jackets may still be needed for trick-or-treaters in all communities.

“The temperature will probably be below freezing when they’re out there… so just make sure the little spooks are dressed properly,” added Lang.

It’s expected to get a bit warmer later in the week.

Since there’s no snow and most communities are looking at sunny conditions, there’s a good chance the snow on the ground may melt away.

“(The temperature) is slightly above freezing and the sun is still warm, so it is tending to melt the snow. The ground isn’t frozen yet either,” said Lang.

She added it’s hard to 100 per cent predict as it really depends on the amount of snow that’s already on the ground.
