Charges laid after senior assaulted during break and enter

A 27-year-old man has been charged after a senior citizen was assaulted during a break and enter in Meadow Lake.

RCMP were called to a Meadow Lake home just before 11:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14 where the senior was assaulted. The suspect was located shortly after and arrested after a prolonged struggle. One officer received minor injuries during the struggle and was taken to the hospital but released shortly after.

The senior citizen also received minor injuries, but did not require treatment.

The suspect is facing charges of Breaking and Entering, Assault, Resisting Arrest, Causing a Disturbance and Mischief under $5000.

The suspect will appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 16.
