Sask. golfers’ birdie challenge scores big donation for Fort McMurray

May 9, 2016 | 12:47 PM

Two Saskatchewan pro golfers have made good on their pledge to donate for residents of Fort McMurray.

PGA golfer Graham DeLaettweeted Wednesday he would give $500 for every birdie he made at last week’s tournament, the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina, to the people affected by wildfires in Alberta.

An outpouring of support followed on social media, including another pledge by Sask. golfer Adam Hadwin to do the same.

Combined, they knocked in 21 birdies and will donate $10,500 to the Red Cross fire victims.
