Alleged school shooting incident, turns out to be false alarm

RCMP sprang into action Wednesday afternoon, June 8 after getting word shots had been fired behind a high school on the Big River First Nation.
 
The initial call for help was made at approximately 12:45 p.m.
 
Soon after both the elementary and high schools were contacted and safety protocols were put in place.
 
The police investigation later determined that no shots were fired and no one was hurt. 
 
The suspected gunshot turned out to be a firework set off in the vicinity of the high school.
 
No charges will be laid.
