Jun 10, 2016 | 12:00 PM

The 96th annual Stampede Week continued yesterday with cowboys coming from all over Western Canada, Australia and Brazil just to see if they could hold on for an eight-second ride.

Two dozen cowboys entertained a modest crowd of a few hundred at the Meadow Lake and District Arena on Thursday, June 9 as the rodeo events for the week kicked off with bull riding.

Lone Meadow Lake cowboy in the event, Cody Coverchuk finished the day in second place behind Josh Birks from Australia. Winning third was Griffin Smeltzer from Alberta.

Stampede Week kicked off on Monday, June 6 with the ‘let your colours shine’ parade.
