M.L Stampede Week rides into another thrilling day

Calf roping, saddle bronc riding, ladies barrel racing and more were all part of day two of the Meadow Lake Stampede Week rodeo.

The arena was packed with a few hundred rodeo lovers yesterday, June 10.

In the saddle bronc competition, Tyler Wilson won the ride with a score of 72. Chance Barrass scored second with a 70, while Dawson Hay placed third with a 62.

Ladies barrel racing had Tristan Bull win with a 13.05 second ride. Taylor Schmidt scored second with a 13.3 second ride and Shelly Manning came third with a tying time of 13.3.

Only three cowboys were able to wrestle their steer to the ground. Blair Whitfield did it in 4.4 seconds, Lance Fraser was a few split seconds behind, wrestling his steer in five seconds. The steer took third place winner Wes Kunz nearly to the end of the arena, as it took him 13.9 seconds to wrestle it down.

Bull riding was again a part of the action with only two riders able to hang on for the full eight second ride. Coy Robbins placed first with an 80.5 point ride, while Michael Ostaschek got second with 73 points.

Rodeo action continues today, June 11 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meadow Lake’s bull riding sensation Cody Coverchuk will ride in front of his hometown crowd.
