UPDATE: Semi pulled from ditch; road open

Nov 8, 2016 | 9:00 AM

UPDATE: The semi-trailer which tipped in the ditch earlier this morning has since been pulled out and the area is fully open to traffic again.

The tow-truck was dispatched from Lloydminster as Meadow Lake’s tow-trucks weren’t powerful enough to pull the trailer free.

Due to the extreme weight of the trailer, the tow-truck created holes in the pavement. The trailer also caused damage, knocking chunks off as it slid into the ditch.

A semi-trailer, carrying two cat tractors has partially tipped on the south end of the West Service Rd. in Meadow Lake.

The semi, attempting to make a right-hand turn onto Airport Rd. tried making the turn too tight causing the trailer to tip in the process.

The driver said the accident was caused by an eastbound vehicle, without a stop sign, who didn’t give him enough room to make the turn.

“I guess there isn’t the common courtesy for truck drivers there used to be,” he said.

The vehicle did not stay on scene.

RCMP attended, however, left shortly after gathering a statement. No charges were laid on scene.

Currently, the driver and his passenger are closing off Airport Rd., and with a tow-truck enroot, expect to be free in the next two to three hours.
