UPDATE: Still no nominees for NWSD board trustee in upcoming byelection

Nov 15, 2016 | 5:00 AM

UPDATE: The Northwest School Division’s nomination deadline is on Wednesday and so far, there’s still no nominations.

Open until Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m., the NWSD is looking for someone to be nominated as a board trustee for Division Four, the Turtleford area.

The byelection is scheduled for Dec. 21 and is needed to fill the NWSD board to 11 trustees, currently there’s only 10.

After two calls for nominations, the Northwest School Division is hoping the third time is the charm.

Division Four, covering the Turtleford area, was left without a trustee after the Oct. 26 elections when no one submitted themselves for the position.

The school division is now seeking nominations again for the bye-election scheduled for Dec. 21.

According to their regulations, a nominee doesn’t have to reside in the area they’re running in, though they do need to be nominated by an area resident.

The nomination period closes Nov. 23 at 4 p.m.
