Youth dead after shooting in Meadow Lake

Nov 14, 2017 | 7:26 AM

A 17-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Meadow Lake yesterday morning.

CKOM reported the boy’s identity as Kegan McCallum after speaking with family members Monday.

RCMP said officers were called to a local residence at approximately 10:30 a.m. where they found the injured male victim suffering suspected gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital by paramedics, police said, and was pronounced deceased upon arrival. RCMP said they will not be identifying the victim at this time.

Police initially only said a “serious incident” had occurred, and advised the public they were looking for a male suspect who was considered armed and dangerous. The suspect has still not been located, police said, and should not be approached.

Meadow Lake RCMP and the Major Crime Unit North continue to investigate. The case also includes the RCMP General Investigation and Forensic Identification sections, along with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

The suspect is described as 5’8”, weighing 102 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing a grey Burton hat, glasses, a red hoodie with black writing and black Adidas track pants. Anyone with information on the incident or suspect is advised to contact RCMP.
