The Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts didn’t start well for Robyn Silvernagle’s rink, but the foursome is rocking and rolling.

The North Battleford based team reeled off seven straight victories during the provincial women’s curling championship in Melfort to conclude the round robin portion of the tournament with a 7-1 record.

Jolene Campbell, the team’s third, said they have no complaints about their performance so far.

“It’s been a great week. We’ve had a few hiccups here and there, but we’ve played through it and stuck together,” she told northeastNOW.

Going into the final day of the preliminary round, Silvernagle had locked up a playoff spot but they still hadn’t clinched first overall. A slim 6-5 win during the afternoon draw over Amber Holland was followed by a 6-3 triumph over Nancy Martin in the last draw.

Campbell said taking the top seed was significant once a playoff spot was clinched.

“Once we knew our record was good enough we set our sights on the one-two game for sure,” Campbell said.

Silvernagle will meet Chantelle Eberle in the first-page playoff game at 7 p.m. Saturday. The winner moves on to Sunday’s final.

There is still a tiebreaker to be played to determine the last championship round team. Last year’s winner Penny Barker will face Stephanie Lawton at 2 p.m. with the winning team advancing to play 2013 Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame inductee Sherry Anderson. Anderson’s rink finished third with a 4-4 record. The winner of the semi-final will take on the loser of the one-two game.
