Weapons charges laid in Green Lake

Jan 15, 2018 | 11:38 AM

RCMP in Meadow Lake attended numerous calls over the weekend, including a weapons seizure and stolen vehicles.

This past Saturday, Meadow Lake RCMP assisted Green Lake officers with a weapons investigation. It began with a complaint of a 23-year-old suffering from minor stab wounds. An executed search warrant resulted in multiple firearms and weapons seized.

Miami Morin, 19, has been arrested and charged with multiple offences including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and assault.

Car thieves strike twice

A youth has been charged in two recent incidents of vehicle theft.

Last week, a company truck was reported stolen from Third St. E., and when RCMP tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver struck a power pole.

According to Sgt. Ryan How, the suspects fled the scene, but investigations led to charges against three youth.

“Charges have been laid against two 16-year-old males and a 16-year-old female,” he said in a media release. “This truck is believed to be the suspect vehicle responsible for the multiple reports of damage to garbage bins throughout Meadow Lake on this same night.”

An SUV was stolen from Second Ave. W. on Jan. 11, and while it was initially reported as stolen while running outside the residence, the suspects actually entered the garage and stole it from there.
