Humboldt Broncos will be back on the ice next season

May 11, 2018 | 3:00 PM

The Humboldt Broncos will return for the 2018-19 season.

The announcement comes just over a month after the team’s tragic bus crash April 6. Sixteen members of the Broncos organization lost their lives in the crash and 13 others incurred injuries.

The first thing the Broncos will have to do is recruit their next head coach and general manager. That dual role was previously occupied by Darcy Haugen, who was among 16 that died in the crash.

“Darcy Haugen was selfless, inspirational and motivating, building up his players to be great ambassadors and role models both on the ice and in the community,” Humboldt Broncos president Kevin Garinger said in a statement Friday.
