Loon Lake RCMP officer receives prestigious award

Jun 22, 2018 | 10:00 AM

Police officers work in many strenuous situations, regularly putting their lives at risk, and one Loon Lake RCMP officer has received a recognition medal for his bravery.

Const. Tayte Hale-Goddard, a nearly-three-year veteran of the RCMP, was involved in rescuing a person from a house fire on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation in 2017. Yesterday, in Saskatoon, Hale-Goddard received a commendation from the commanding officer of Saskatchewan’s RCMP ‘F’ Division, Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki.

Loon Lake Detachment Commander said Hale-Goddard was an admirable recipient. While they didn’t work together directly until this year, he said officers in busy northern posts do a lot of incredible work.

“I’m very proud whenever a deserving member is recognized for the work they do,” How said. “What Tayte did is incredible, and so is the work being done by northern RCMP members every day in some very difficult conditions. It’s important we acknowledge members like Tayte and the work he and his coworkers do every day.”
