Judge denies bail in attempted murder case

A judge has denied bail for a Meadow Lake woman accused of attempting to murder her partner. 

Tammy Rutt, 50, is accused of making the attempt on Douglas Rutt with a .22-calibre rifle June 18. She also faces additional charges, including handling a firearm in a careless manner and possessing a rifle for the purpose of committing an offence. 

The details of Rutt’s July 23 bail hearing are covered by a publication ban. Judge Michelle Baldwin released her decision to deny bail on Wednesday, July 25. 

The case was adjourned to Aug. 27.
