Pelican Lake First Nation man charged in death of relative

One man is dead and a relative is facing a second-degree murder charge after an incident at a home on the Pelican Lake First Nation.

Spiritwood RCMP said paramedics, Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment officers with the Provincial Response Team responded to a home on the First Nation Saturday where it was reported an adult had suffered life-threatening injuries following an altercation.

When emergency personnel arrived, it was determined the man had died from his injuries.

Lorin Davin Chamakese was arrested and charged in the second-degree murder of Dustin Craig Chamakese, who police said are related.

An autopsy is scheduled for Oct. 9, in Saskatoon. Members of the Major Crime Unit North, forensic identification section and police dog services are assisting with the investigation.

Lorin will make his first court appearance on Tuesday at provincial court in Spiritwood.
