Meadow Lake Library – A Great Resource for Summer Entertainment

Jul 5, 2016 | 9:44 AM

The Meadow Lake Library has been a part of the community since 1946, starting from a very modest presence during the early years of the community. Over time the library has moved to ever-larger quarters.

In 1972, the library became part of the Lakeland Library Region, tapping into the wealth of books and other materials provided by that Region and by the Provincial Library system as a whole. In 1994, the library moved into their present location which provided ample room to expand their services.

Books are regularly exchanged in blocks between the Region’s libraries, ensuring that each library’s collection is always changing. Inter-library loans are readily available from any library within the Province and beyond. With the addition of Internet access for patrons, the Meadow Lake Library can now provide the resources of the world to our community.

The Meadow Lake Library boasts an annual circulation of 40,000 items, half of which are hard-cover books, the other half being a wide range of materials such as videos, periodicals, and talking-books.

The Meadow Lake Library caters to the young with a room just for them, with an excellent range of reading and audio material. Special events are offered throughout the year to encourage the young to visit the library regularly. There are talking books, videos, story hours, and reading programs to keep them entertained and learning.
