Heads Up for Healthier Brains

Mar 4, 2016 | 8:08 AM

The public is invited to attend the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan’s Heads Up for Healthier Brains public forum on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, delivered via Telehealth from Saskatoon City Hospital from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This forum is part of the Alzheimer Society’s Heads up for Healthier Brains program, and aims to inform the public about the importance of brain health, lifestyle choices and ways to help lower the risk of developing dementia.

Each year the forum highlights a specific theme regarding brain health. This year’s theme is “Myths and Realities of Aging and How to Live Well to 100!” and our keynote speaker, Dr. Samir K. Sinha, Director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai and the University Health Network Hospitals and Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Toronto and John Hopkins University School of Medicine, will discuss how understanding common myths and realities of aging can help us to live up to five years longer than others, and reduce our chances of developing diseases like Alzheimer’s or related dementias.

Registration is free, but donations are appreciated. People may register at www.alzheimer.ca/sk or by calling 1-800-263-3367 or by contacting their local Telehealth coordinator.

The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan is the province’s leading dementia care and research charity. We provide support and education to people with dementia as well as their family and caregivers through peer group, telephone and individual support. We fund Saskatchewan-based and Canada-wide research focused on discovering a cause, a cure and improving the quality of life for those currently living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
