Wilbur Bauer March 24, 1931- April 12, 2022.
Born to Wolfgang and Theresa Bauer, youngest of 10 children. Wilbur married Alma Bock July 13, 1950. They started out their married life very humbly in a granary, but Dad and Mom worked very hard and slowly built their way up to the farmstead that Dad lived in until his passing.
Through the years Dad farmed, had a cat business and when he was 65 built a hotel. He was a talented welder, building a root rake, which is still being used 58 years later.
Dad’s positive attitude and matter of fact way of life was what got him through. When Mom got sick he cared for her, never complaining and when Mom said she was a burden, he would tell her never because without her he wouldn’t have anyone to talk to or keep him company. One time Dad had phoned and said Mom had fell so we went over to help. There they were lying on the floor, Dad tell Mom jokes and they were laughing so hard. As Dad’s nephew said to me after his passing, he truly was one of the good ones.
Dad was diagnosed with cancer this last summer, he fought so hard but sadly lost the battle. He is going to be greatly missed.
Wilbur was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Wolfgang and Theresa Bauer. Wife Alma Bauer May 21, 2015. Siblings Johnny (Mavis), Ervin, Robby (Fran) , Willy, Agnes (Lawrence), Grace (Tom), Marg (Alf), Joe (Thelma) and Eddie (Ella).
Survived by his children, Carol (John), Randy (Sandy), Judy (Rodney), Terry (Val) and Mike (Dale), Sister in Law Myrtle.
