Kinsmen Club announces guests for annual sportsman’s dinner

The Meadow Lake Kinsmen Club is gearing up for their next fundraising event. The club recently announced its lineup for the annual sportsman’s dinner.

President Evan Haubrich announced this year former NHLer Reggie Leach and former CFLer Dave Ridgway are the guests of honor.

Hockey tough guy forced to sell Tim Hortons franchise due to health issues

After nine seasons as a hockey enforcer, Meadow Lake native Jon “Nasty” Mirasty saw a future in business, opening the areas first Tim Hortons with his wife Janessa. But health problems connected to his hockey career have forced him to sell.

Jeremy Harrison re-elected for a third term in the Meadow Lake constituency

Cheers, applause and greetings are what met newly re-elected Meadow Lake MLA Jeremy Harrison as he made his way in to the Bears Den to celebrate the win on April 4. 

Harrison said he is very grateful to all of his supporters, and to those who cast a ballot.

City saving on natural gas; change won't affect homeowners

The City of Meadow Lake has been refunded nearly $16,000 in PST overpayments and thanks to a new contract can expect to save nearly $200,000 on its natural gas bill over the next three years.

Beginning Nov. 2016, the City will pay nearly 2/3rds less than what they were paying already.

Door of Hope struggling to stay open

The Door of Hope is having trouble balancing the books.

The organization which includes a soup kitchen and food bank is in debt for nearly $30,000.

The people behimd the scenes at Door of Hope recently sent a donation request to Meadow Lake city council.
